OUR STORY

Since its founding in 1976, Gosen Assembly has been dedicated to preaching the gospel under the leadership of Pastor Prevoit Presimont in Pont-Saintard, Arcahaie, Haiti. A native of Jérémie, Pastor Presimont arrived in Arcahaie with wisdom, humility, and a deep passion for spreading the good news of the Kingdom of Heaven. His journey was not without challenges—he faced hardships and opposition—but he remained steadfast in his mission.

The ministry began with just four individuals gathering under a mango tree to hear Pastor Presimont’s teachings. Year after year, the truth of the gospel spread throughout Arcahaie and beyond. Many accepted the message, were baptized, and joined in the work of the ministry. Through God’s guidance, the ministry expanded to several regions in Haiti, including Fonds Baptiste, Ca Pierre, Pouye, Thomas, Gonaïves, and many more—all united in one spirit. However, God’s plan for Gosen Assembly did not stop at Haiti; the ministry crossed borders, reaching the United States and the Dominican Republic.

A New Chapter in the United States

In the summer of 2000, Pastor Presimont arrived in the United States, leaving his congregation in Haiti. Unsure of what to do next, he found himself troubled. He knew from a young age that God had called him, and he did not want to abandon his ministry for secular work. He initially worshiped with Pastor Cineas, a longtime acquaintance from Haiti, traveling frequently to Connecticut. However, seeing how difficult the journey was for Pastor Cineas, he stopped him from making these trips and instead began praying with his family at home.

At the time, his household consisted of his wife and their six children: Rachelle, Esther, Magdala, Claudia, Ruth, and Emanuel. One morning, after his children left for school, Pastor Presimont prayed earnestly:

“Lord, here I am before You. I ask You to speak to me and tell me what to do. I have a church in Haiti, and I am now here. If You have sent me to the United States as a reward for my work in Haiti, let me know. If I should return to Haiti to care for Your people, let me know.”

It was 9 AM when he finished praying and went to his room to rest. In a vision, he saw someone hand him a gun and say, “I give you this gun to provide security in Westbury. Whoever enters, it is on you. Whoever leaves, it is on you.”

A Confirmation Through a Vision

Around the same time, a woman named Sister Hilaire—whom Pastor Presimont and his family had never met—had a profound vision. In it, she saw a great church on Prospect Avenue where Pastor Presimont was preaching. A voice in the vision said to her, “Sister Hilaire! Pastor Prevoit is in this church!” She responded, “I have been searching for a church where I could find a seat, but I never could.” The voice replied, “Pastor Prevoit is having service right now. No devil can stand before him. Wherever he goes, he has authority. Go to him, and you will find your place in this church.”

After this vision, Sister Hilaire stopped attending her previous church.

One cold Sunday morning, while Pastor Presimont and his family were in prayer, they heard someone crying and knocking at the door. When they opened it, they found Sister Hilaire. They took her by the hand to help her upstairs for she was under the power of the Holy Ghost. Once inside, she testified, saying:

“I had a vision, and someone told me, ‘Rise up now! Pastor Presimont is gathering with his family at 233 Rushmore Street. Go to him now! For I am using him to guide My people in Westbury!’”

Following this, God called many others to join, and thus, Gosen Assembly was established in the United States.

A Journey Through Adversity and Growth

The church began in Pastor Presimont’s home at 233 Rushmore Street, Westbury, New York. However, as the congregation grew, the space became too small. The need for a larger worship space led the church through several temporary locations.

During this period, Gosen Assembly faced many adversities—relocating multiple times, often struggling to find a stable place to worship. Each move was a test of faith, but God remained faithful, guiding the church through every challenge. Through it all, the congregation remained united, determined to continue the work of the Lord.

Eventually, this journey brought them to an Episcopal church that was renting out space. There, they began worshiping in the basement of the building. The priest of the church also played a pivotal role in helping them organize the church’s legal documents, further solidifying their presence as a ministry.

As the congregation continued to grow, the basement soon became too small. They then requested to rent the upstairs space, and today, that is where Gosen Assembly worships.

Pastor Presimont’s Vision for the Future

From its humble beginnings under a mango tree in Haiti to an expanding international ministry, Gosen Assembly has remained steadfast in its mission. Since 1976, Pastor Presimont has dedicated his life to serving God’s people with integrity and devotion. To this day, no one can discredit his leadership or integrity in a way that would discourage the people of God.

His vision is clear: even after his time, the ministry must remain stable, led by honest men who are committed to seeing the vision through. He prays that his successor will continue the work, not through mere human sight, but with divine wisdom and guidance.

Gosen Assembly’s journey is a testament to faith, perseverance, and God’s unfailing guidance. From Haiti to the United States and beyond, the message remains the same—the gospel of Jesus Christ must be preached to all nations.
